I guess I got some ‘splain’n to do!
Picking up from the Home page, you may wonder why I took around a 25 year hiatus from my music. Well, it was…LIFE that got in the way. I got married to my beautiful wife (30 + years now), had a couple of great kids, and began working at whatever I could for as many hours as I could in order to feed everybody. I sold everything from toys to hospital textiles (did you know that they rate surgical towels by how much blood they can soak up?). I even sold used cars for almost 10 years…and I was damn good at it:-). Then I did a three-sixty and taught myself all about computers, computer networks and relational\multi-dimensional OLAP data bases (go figure!), and trained\consulted in the IT field.
You might be thinking "Hmmm....I know lot's of folks that work real jobs and play music as a hobby. Perhaps there are additional issues with this Fritz character!"
Well....you'd be right. I could never seem to play just a little. It's always been all or nothing with me when it comes to my music. What can I say? But here's the deal....I was never this good back in the day. Seriously! I guess it’s all that life experience crap along with a bit of maturity.
So when my son moved out and my daughter got married, I went a little nuts. I started buying instruments, recording and sound equipment, percussion stuff....you name it. I set up a studio in my daughter’s old bedroom in the basement and began recording. Then one day I got lonely and thought “I wonder if being in a band at my age....with other grown-up’s....is as much brain damage as it used to be?". Well....yes folks....it is! So now it’s just me....Fritz. I have risen from the depths of my dark and dreary basement, dusted myself off, and now I play out every chance I get!
I guess my music is a mix of some of my old stuff (I only remembered the good ones) along with lots of new songs that just seem to pop into my head. Inspiration seems to come from the world in general. Sometimes it’s what I’m experiencing....sometimes it’s what I imagine....recently it’s been my brand new little granddaughter Cali. Give it a listen and you’ll see what I’m saying....
PS.......Although not posted, I love to cover my favorite songs when I play out. This stuff about singer\songwriters only playing originals is nuts! Decades and decades of great music and I'm not going to play any of it!? Yea....right.
