This song pretty much speaks for itself.  I tried to keep it as politically neutral as possible……but that’s sometimes impossible depending upon the listener.  All I can say is that through the song I want to acknowledge the sometime necessity of war while at the same time point out that wars are often political rather than necessary.  Regardless, the men and women (and their loved ones) that risk and sacrifice their lives are always hero’s, and should always be given a hero’s welcome when they return.

      Soldiers they fight for our dreams

      But a politician’s whim

     It’s too much to ask of them

     Soldiers come home it'll be alright

Mothers and fathers are heroes

They struggle every day to make things right

They teach you right from wrong

Do what they can to make you strong

Knowing the price they may pay

They know that the country may need them

To send their children to war

In their leaders they have faith

A generation not to waste

Hoping their faiths not betrayed

Now here's to our sons and our daughters

Here's too our proud and our brave

In lands so far away

For their safe return we pray
